About the project
"A suit as a symbol of normativity. A suit as an arthropod's shell. A suit as geometry, as something that gives rise to lines that don't exist in nature. As something maximally artificial. As black and white. As familiar human postures twist and a non-human logic shows through."
A step toward the everyday, two steps aside and back. In the same time as the audience, and at once in another temporality — as if waking up inside Kafka's "Metamorphosis."
"I'm interested in movement that never fully forms. Scraps, fragments, freezes. What slips past my aesthetic control and even past self-preservation. The leg gains a consciousness of its own, separate from the head."
A piece that investigates the body as a place where contradictions meet: cultural constraints and physiology, geometry and politics, suffering and puzzle. It premiered at the MOÑ theatre venue (Kazan) as part of an evening of contemporary choreography.
